Appreciate your comments.
NZ needed a change and it needed it desperately. Not just for a change sake but for good valid reasons. NZ must now be one of the most liberal countries in the world and I believe devinly that a stop has been put on further liberal changes.
It is good that we are able to verbalise our thoughts into discussion. You have been over there and seen and heard what we haven't and I do agree and believe alot in your perspective. I so much like and admire President Bush too. From this distance of NZ I have tried to get 'inside the man and his decisions'. I think he has been in the 'power seat' at a most difficult time and has not wavered on the difficult discisions he has had to make. I think wars are the saddest thing and they are not of my choice as tools of correction, but I believe to retaliate with war were not easy choices for Bush to make either. Along with Rooservelt and Kennedy, we can put Bush as well, in their decisions to stand up to the dominant evil forces they and the world faced.
There has been alot of obvious emotion surrounding the elections and the voting in of Obama. Though he is from the liberal side of government I don't think that is what his total make up is about. As you say time will tell but I do believe and think I understand why the Blacks are so happy and rejoicing about their Black President.
It is not all about any liberal beliefs or policies for them, it is about what they identify with in him. His colour, his culture, his pathway through life, his successes as a black man, their memory and knowledge of their past, there reasons for being in America and how they come to be there, the past opressions that they bare, their lack of being privileged, the cultural barriers that they still feel and experience, etc etc. They see him off their chance of being equal, giving them status and hope, visions to believe in and a reason to feel proud .
He is there for everybody, black or white, and he has not defined about anyone race, but I believe that the blacks see him not for any of the Democrat liberal policies but for the reasons I have mentioned above.
On our TV in NZ we saw film of the emotions of many of the blacks when the Obama victory was announced. It was emotions with tears amid the rejoicing and it emotionally charged and moved me to see that.
So I see Obama's victory in two lights. One is that the Democrat Party represents all the liberalism that you comment about Graham and there is much and present past evidence of that that cannot be denied, and the other is of what his victory has brought to the black people in their sense of status and a belonging as true citizens of the United States Of America.

Well Brad...............last I heard it was Jimmy Carter........he was a Democrat and a Christian too. So you could've thrown stones at him too.

You seem to have forgotten the murders of the Kurds and Sadamm Hussiens (sp) opponents.
As far as I know GB didn't get people killed for that kind of thing.
He has been a good man tryn to fight for and protect his country...don't worry I can hear you laughing.

Your so young
its not your fault
theres so much for you to go thru

so the song says

I think I will just leave you to it.

The times I can remember in my life when I was so critical of Christians at every turn........was usually when I was not being true to who I should or could be............I dunno where you are at Brad in your life.

But you seem to have issues with so called bubble christians and turned to politics and liberals to save the world rather than to the grace of God.

I have known your family for a long time......and have said some strong things to you

perhaps i shouldn't have
and I have no doubt other words about me may be in your ears.

I am going to leave all this debating for time to work its course.

Glad you voted for Helen......but just like America needed a change......so did NZ.
